What was. What is.

A$10,000.00

What was. What is” is a set of contemporary totems representing the physical history at 47 Easey Street, the impulsive attitude of Ling’s visual practice, and the geographic link between Everfresh Studio's current and prior locations.

Utilising leftover roofing vent stacks from the redevelopment of 47 Easey Street (The original site of Everfresh Studio, now BAR Studio workshop), the finished pieces are an extension of Ling’s increasingly multi-disciplinary practice and willingness to explore through practical implementation. Intending to highlight the revised silhouettes whilst referencing Ling’s graffiti history and that of the objects, the finished work takes advantage of Ling’s well-documented penchant for gold to provide a holistic element throughout. Combined with the chaotic aesthetic of traditional graffiti, albeit constrained to specific sections and within clean lines, a balance is found that shows just how far street-based visual practices have come since Everfresh first inhabited the walls of BAR Studio.
